Belarusian producer, Kseniya Yorsh, is currently in the midst of production on her first live-action feature film. The film, written and directed by Panamanian filmmaker Eric Iglesias, explores the topic of religion and leads a pro-life/pro-choice debate by telling the story of a young girl who is faced with making tough decisions while not abandoning her faith.
Yorsh, whose producer portfolio includes made in Hollywood films like ‘Love in Porn’, and ‘Poly-Love’ (69th edition of Festival De Cannes Short Film Corner), as well as a dozen other films showcased at film festivals around the world and distributed in the US, Spain, and France, was attracted to the subject matter due to the increased relevance of these topics and the need to bring attention to it.
This is also the first feature film for the director, who made a career as a commercial filmmaker in Latin America, whose previous films tackled issues of immigration and organ trafficking. Iglesias’s film, ‘A Day In The Park’, won the Silver Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival and ‘Lucy’ was an official selection at the Oscar-qualifying Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival. Iglesias’s films, ‘Lucy’ and ’16’, were also showcased in Cannes in 2013 and 2014.
The film was financed by Beverly Hills based Gray Pictures. Principal photography took place in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, and was made possible by a multi-national team of people of more than ten countries that came together for the production. Cinematographer Violetta D’Agata, a member of AIC (Associazione Italiana Autori della Fotografia Cinematografica), flew to the US from Spain to join the production.
Headlining the production are Colombian singer/actress Camila Llano, American actors Kei’la Ryan, and Christian Calloway (known from ‘Dirty Beautiful’, ‘Free Mason’, ‘Revenge, Inc.’).
This is the first collaboration of Kseniya Yorsh and Eric Iglesias who met during their studies at the prestigious New York Film Academy. They will be promoting the film at the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival to be celebrated in the French Riviera in May 2017.
