“A few days ago HRES Bill 757 was introduced into Congress for a National Vitiligo Awareness Day. There is no cure for vitiligo. Vitiligo is a non-contagious skin disorder that leaves white patches on the skin, and celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Winnie Harlow are well-known Vitiligans. Our mission is to use the medium of the race to raise awareness about Vitiligo and to promote and support research for a cure. At Vitiligo Bond, we provide resources for Vitiligans to access private support groups, health screening, take part in community activities, and participate in self-esteem exercises. “Through this race, we hope that more people will know about us and join the force to find proper treatment,” said Ms. Mitchell, a representative of National Vitiligo Bond Inc., Foundation.
The 2nd Annual Vitiligo Awareness Walk/Run will be a successful event with plenty of media coverage nation – and world-wide. Participating will mean a lot for people who are living with Vitiligo and race will help raise funds to be invested in research to help find the causes, prevention, and treatment for Vitiligo. We have early bird and race day registration and regular entry fees. Participants can take part by putting their feet on the ground on race day or as virtual runners.
There will be timing, awards, and shirts for different age groups and category of winners including:
- Top 3 overall, male and female
- Top 3 overall Masters, male and female
- Overall Grand Masters, male and female
- Overall Sr. Masters, male and female
