The longest-running conference for women’s spirituality will take place in Rochester, Minn., Sept. 23–24, for an immersive and transformational weekend.

The 39th annual Women and Spirituality Conference, dedicated to “Deepening Our Connections, Embracing Our Wholeness, and Awakening Our Wisdom,” will take place the weekend of Sept. 23 at St. Mary’s University in Rochester, Minn. The conference has been drawing international attention for decades and is the first conference devoted to women’s spirituality.

Award-winning psychologist, mythologist, and writer Dr. Sharon Blackie will be the keynote speaker discussing “Celtic Mythology for an Age of Ecocide: the Land, the Otherworld, and the Anima Mundi.”

Blackie is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and the author of X books, including The Enchanted Life; If Women Rose Rooted; The Long Delirious Burning Blue; Foxfire, Wolfskin and Other Stories of Shapeshifting Women; The Enchanted Life: Unlocking the Magic of the Everyday; The Enchanted Life: Unlocking the Magic and Wisdom of the Natural World; and Hagitude: Reimagining the Second Half of Life. Her next book, Wise Women: Myths and folklore in celebration of older women, will be published by Virago in 2024.

Attendees have a choice of 30 workshops ranging from healing to feminine magic to tarot ancestral lineage and can attend in-person or virtually. Tickets for the live event are $147, and online tickets are $69. Onsite workshops have limited seating. Interested attendees should preregister for them as soon as possible, although all sessions will also be live-streamed. Pre-purchased catered lunches are available from Forager Café, which sources locally grown and seasonal vegetables.

Virginia Cooper, the conference organizer, says, “Throughout the 39 years of conferences, our purpose has always been to bring together people of diverse spiritual, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds to share traditions, respecting and celebrating our similarities and differences. We continue this tradition today and emphasize no one spirituality or religion.”

The conference opens its doors to the public free of charge on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to attend the Healing Circle, which offers healing, psychic readings, and shopping. Dozens of vendors will be onsite with tables set up for tarot, chakra readings, jewelry, gemstones, herbal products, and more.

“Since 1981, the Women and Spirituality Conference has supported thousands of women on their personal path towards healing and purpose,” says Cooper. “The past three years of dealing with the challenges of the pandemic have been utilized as the gift that they are—a time to reflect on the history of the conference and embrace a renewed, sustainable future. It has brought us together on our shared journey towards healing, growth, and ultimately, our own path to finding the soul’s purpose.”

The event is being held at Cascade Meadows at St. Mary’s University: 2900 19th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901. For further driving and parking directions and more information on the conference, go to https://womenandspirituality.org/.
