Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress Announces Tax March in Charlotte

Local activist group Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress is standing in unity with cities across the country by holding a tax march on April 15 at Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte.

The American public has been requesting that President Donald Trump release his tax returns for months, and now they’re sending a more unified message. Activists across the United States are joining together on April 15 – more commonly known as Tax Day – to ask again for transparency. The citizens of Charlotte, North Carolina are making their voices heard as part of the effort. Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress will be holding a peaceful march on April 15, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. at Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte.

The rally is open to all who wish to attend – so long as activities remain positive and non-violent. The goal is to emphasize that members of the public do care about the President’s tax returns and ensuring that he maintains transparency and is acting in the best interest of the people. Donald Trump initially reported during his campaign that he would release this information, but later his top advisor, Kellyanne Conway, stated that he would not provide his tax returns for public review.

“We believe that Donald Trump should release his tax returns as all presidents have done since Nixon,” says Eve Hibbler, event organizer and member of Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress. “His decision not to blindly divest from his company and holdings could have possible conflicts of interest, and in light of recent events, full disclosure has become even more imperative, including release of his tax returns.”

The event is being organized by Hibbler and Tyler Reid of Charlotte in conjunction with the organization’s co-founders, Amanda Clark and Ashley Peterson. The group is passionate about protecting the rights of all Americans and supporting positive advancements in society through peaceful and informed demonstrations. They work closely with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and other authorities to ensure proper permits and notifications are in place to keep everyone safe.

The Tax March will be held at Romare Bearden Park, located at the corner of 3rd and Church Streets in Uptown Charlotte, on April 15 from 2-5 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to attend and make their voice heard in regard to the release of Donald Trump’s tax returns. Charlotte will be one of many cities across the country all coming together on Tax Day to show their support and speak up for transparency.
