The trained staff is also on hand to help with several therapy options.
Recovery from alcohol or substance abuse is a difficult road to travel alone. The Addiction Therapy Specialists offer one-on-one counselling to allow residents to learn about themselves and their behaviours. These sessions will tackle the root of the addiction by addressing several areas of the resident’s life including biological, physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual elements.
Group Counselling is also offered. Group sessions help the client recover from the isolation their addictive behaviours have brought on them. By forming a sense of camaraderie, clients are able to begin to remove patterns of self-destructive behaviours. Some topics addressed in group sessions include Relapse prevention, Life skills, Goal setting and team building activities.
New Beginnings also offers a 12 step program. These programs allow clients to connect with other people in various stages of recovery. It also introduces them to motivational speakers and literature they can use to help reach their goals. 12 step progresses provide guidelines and strategies for coping with the daily challenges of addiction. The clients are also paired with a sponsor who will help guide them through the 12 steps and support them through the weekly meetings.
Clients will also have the opportunity to explore other types of meetings in the community. Some of these include SMART Recovery, CBT/DBT, Outpatient Counselling, Goal setting, and Life skills.
