York Mumbler, which started on Yorkshire day, Saturday 1st August 2015, has launched a new initiative to help address a very common dilemma for parents in the run up to Christmas – The cost of buying new toys & also making room in the house for the inevitable new toy overload!
York Mumbler has placed ‘Toy Exchange’ bins in 2 popular cafes in York where parents are encouraged to help themselves to a toy for their little one as long as they donate their used, good condition toys into the exchange at some point in the future.
‘The idea is simple’ said Emily Pickard, founder of https://york.mumbler.co.uk ‘Children have so much these days and there are some fantastic toys in our house that my kids have simply outgrown. Rather than sending them to landfill, I love the idea of other children in the city continuing to play with them. I firmly believe, what goes around, comes around and this concept is just about that! Take a toy, enjoy, and give something back.’
The 2 current Toy Exchange tubs are at the Youth Hostel Café on Water End and also at Love to Eat on Moor Lane in York. ‘These are both really family friendly café’s so the perfect places for the toy exchanges to be located’ Says Emily. York Mumbler are also looking for more locations in different areas of the city so if you run a family friendly café then please e-mail hello@yorkmumbler.com and they can arrange to get a Toy Exchange to you or see https://york.mumbler.co.uk/free-toys-for-christmas-in-york for additional information.
Parents can also buy, sell or give away children’s toys, clothes and nursery items on York Mumbler any time. It’s a free resource for local parents and very well used.
On https://york.mumbler.co.uk parents can find out everything they’d ever need to know about being a parent in York. From regular weekly classes and playgroups to family friendly cafes and restaurants plus what is going on over the School Holidays. At the moment, there are hundreds of listings about Christmas in York including places to see Santa, festive shows & pantomime plus Christmas related events & activities. It’s a hugely valuable resource to the people of York, with around 14,000 visitors to the website each month and continues to grow in popularity all the time. It truly is a 1 stop shop for everything the parents of York could want to know.
