History of Sucralose
In the year 1976, Splenda (trade name of Sucralose) was discovered accidently, which was made by ingredient maker Tate & Lyle. It is made in a 5 process in which sucrose reacts with chlorine. At last, it is a sugar molecule in which three hydrogen-oxygen groups are replaced with three chlorine atoms that is not metabolized by the body. Sucralose is also 600 times as sweet as sugar. To get the FDA approval in 1998, Tate & Lyle partnered with Johnson & Johnson.
