Atlanta, GA – March 14, 2018 – Former college quarterback from Oklahoma Baptist and current pro athlete Ernest Owens made his acting debut on the new hit tv show called “The Quad” on BET on season 2 episode 7 which included Atlanta rapper Big Boi, Sheryl Lee Ralph from the hit tv show “Moesha” Zoe Renee, Anika Noni Rose, and also Peyton Alex Smith. The Quad” takes viewers inside the culture-rich world of Georgia A&M, where newly elected president Dr. Eva Fletcher has her hands full managing a modern-day HBCU and its entering freshman class.
As she juggles those demanding responsibilities and a messy personal life her rebellious daughter Sydney tries to make her mark on campus. She’s an up-and-coming rap artist, who leads the first-year students along with Bojohn, the school’s first white starting quarterback. Eva’s allies include history department Dean Ella Grace and football coach Eugene Hardwick. Eva must learn to deal with Art Diamond, the charismatic yet ruthless head of Georgia A&M’s prestigious marching band. The Atlanta rapper Big Boi has starred in several films including the OutKast movie “Idlewild,” “ATL” and “Who’s Your Caddy,” and he’s looking to focus on more television and film projects.
Ernest Owens is looking to extend his role in Hollywood and is quickly getting into various programs.
This move in Owens’ career is an intriguing shift from his past. Owens had been an athlete for a period as he played quarterback for the football team at Oklahoma Baptist University and also played professional basketball for a period in Europe. He did study theater in college and is looking to use his experience to go further into the world of acting.
He will also appear on the television shows the Gifted and Scream: The TV Series later in the coming year. The Quad appears on TV every Tuesday night at 10pm eastern time and is available on demand.
