September 22, 2018 – Shanghai – The “Overwatch League™” (“OWL”) has just gotten bigger. Following Guangzhou and Atlanta, another six franchises including Vancouver, Paris, Washington D.C., Toronto, Hangzhou, and Chengdu, will join the battle for the OWL championship in the 2019 season. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Dragons has news of their own: the official announcement of its new head coach. The new head coach will be leading the Shanghai Dragons in Season 2 of OWL at the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, Los Angeles, USA.
Profile of “Overwatch League™” Shanghai Dragons Head Coach, BlueHaS:
Head Coach BlueHaS – Coach Wi “BlueHaS” Seung Hwan took over the South Korean OC team KongDoo Panthera as head coach in 2017. He is known for a steady hand and attention to detail. With Coach BlueHaS at the helm, KongDoo Panthera delivered a consistently outstanding performance throughout the series of tournaments. Shortly after Coach BlueHaS took over, KongDoo Panthera faced the challenge of the Nexus Cup Annual Finals. After only a brief period of team coordination, the team succeeded in dazzling the audience during the tournament, and finished in second place after seven intense games against X6-Gaming. In the OTS Finals the following year, KongDoo Panthera paid X6-Gaming back with interest in the semi-finals and overwhelmed Meta Bellum in the finals to take their first championship. The two opposing teams were champions and one of the Top 4 Season 1 of the OWL Challengers in South Korea. In Season 2 of the OWL Challengers in South Korea that ended last month, KongDoo Panthera, led by BlueHaS, went undefeated through the group stages, and battled the reigning champion Runaway through eight games before succumbing. Nevertheless, BlueHaS was widely recognized in the league as a successful coach.
With Season 2 of OWL around the corner, the Shanghai Dragons management team performed a rigorous screening and in-depth analysis in choosing a head coach for Shanghai Dragons in Season 2. Coach BlueHaS’ team always delivered consistently in South Korea OC. The coach and team members got along well. Overwatch has gone through several versions during BlueHaS’ coaching career. The coach, however, was always able to quickly formulate specific tactics and effectively teach them to team members. As a result, KongDoo Panthera remained strong with each new version. BlueHaS designs tactics that offer flexibility and can be modified to take advantage of the strengths of individual teams and team members. BlueHaS is considered to be a tactical coach with his own management system. It is believed that having BlueHaS onboard will bring new changes to the Shanghai Dragons and a breakthrough in team coordination and tactics for their best performance.
Being in a world class e-sports league like “Overwatch League™” and representing Shanghai, Shanghai Dragons has built up experience, rested, and are ready for battle. With the coach and the management team working together, an overhaul of the Shanghai Dragons team is expected. The complete roster for Season 2 will be announced soon.
