microDMG Buggy is the newly launched and innovative toy car that is equipped with an intelligent sensor for obstacle and power-ups detection. It can be controlled using an iOS or Android mobile application. The project is first introduced on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter with a goal of $23, 279 USD. To control the Buggy car, the user’s mobile phone or tablet shall be compatible with BLE. Using the app, the users will be able to control the Buggy in multiple ways including tilt to steer. Thanks to the intelligent sensor, the gameplay is incredibly advanced in both, single-player and multiplayer modes.
The Buggy is developed by microDMG who aimed to create a car that provides a racing experience like never before. This is why they have also let the protocol for communications between the App and the Buggy remain open, which means any developer can build on top of the app and modify it based on their requirements. To ensure an even better racing experience with friends, the apps will be synchronized when playing multiplayer, regardless of their phone model. The users can go for either single player or multiplayer racing on any smooth surface, be it a tabletop, office floor, countertop, dining table, or even a pool table.
The Buggy will also come with track pieces which can be assembled in a variety of ways to create tracks of varying difficulties. It all depends on the user’s creativity. Besides, the users can also create tracks using random objects like Legos, golf balls, marbles, table, chairs and more. The app also allows users to use power-ups and obstacles in both multiplayer and single-player modes. For example, The Mud powerup slows down the user for a while; the Shield protects for a limited time and Boost, speeds up for a limited time. The user also has the option to disable them if they’re not racing and want to roam around.
At present, the developers of the Buggy are testing its sensor on various surfaces to ensure it works smoothly before it gets delivered to the users. A few more tests are remaining on the app side while the Buggy is ready for production. The users can order Buggy now by supporting the Kickstarter campaign and choosing various rewards.
The Buggy is available for pre-order at an early bird price of $59 while the MSRP will be $99. The early backers can also pledge for $118 to get two Buggys at this low price. Early backer pledges are limited. We recommend you act quick.
