The Divinity Inquiry is a novel informed by in-depth historical research, comparative religion, mysticism, and the hidden politics of Church and Empire. Set in Victorian times, the book intertwines themes of authenticity, conspiracy, religious tolerance, and political upheaval, which well resonate with contemporary events today. The storyline of this mystery fiction centers on an unorthodox Cambridge Professor of Divinity, Paul Hartley, compelled by the English establishment to travel across the globe to investigate murder and mysticism. This task leads to a series of adventures, as the rugged naturalist and skeptic of Western empire and religion is torn between career, open-mindedness, and morality.
Paul Hartley investigates the events surrounding the death of Euphemia Bray, a wealthy Theosophist, and the authenticity of Blavatsky and her reported occult powers. Interwoven within the novel are the machinations of British and Church rule, conflicts between authority and religion, and debates about the realities of mystical experience.
The Divinity Inquiry has already started to receive accolades from different readers across the globe.
“A remarkable book, bridging the world of academia, docudrama, and adventure. it sheds a fresh light on a historical figure, whose tolerance of others, as well as others’ ideals, is as important to understand today as it was in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
