Mercy Ngozi Alu is an inspirational songwriter and singer from Nigeria. After receiving great response for her track “Chidimma”, an African Gospel Medley, she has recently released her new single “African Queen” on major music platforms like Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube. The video song features groovy Afro beats and an intriguing video that takes one into the fun side of the African continent. The song features a lively gyrating groove capturing the soulful African tune from all across the continent.
Mercy sings Gospel and inspirational Afro-pop. She brings rich, authentic rhythms of African pop, a World beat-matched with her unique voice. Some of her other tracks include “Jewels of Africa”, a 14 track album which was initially released by Elite-Platinum Entertainment featuring hip-hop, reggae, and R&B styles. Her song “Together As One” released under the now-defunct Tate Music Group Oklahoma, along with the album “Ezigbo”, in local Igbo West African dialect.
Mercy’s music is inspired by her love for culture, history, and her experiences in her humble beginnings. Some of her favorite old-school African classic singers who may have influenced aspects of her musical style are famed South African Artists, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Johnny Clegg, Brenda Fassie, and many other soulful American and Nigerian artists. The soulfulness of her vocal style is born out of many losses and challenges along her path, yet she sees the beauty and potential of youth both on the African continent and on a global scale.
