Harvest Rock Church Launches City Care Project with $50,000 Donation to Hometown Small Businesses

Pasadena, CA – Harvest Rock Church (HRC) led by Pastors Ché and Sue Ahn has launched “City Care Project” as part of their coronavirus city-wide relief efforts. Beginning this week, they will be donating $50,000 to small businesses who have financially suffered during the lockdown in Pasadena, CA.

Recipients of City Care Project donations are small businesses and individuals who have been affected by the repercussions of the pandemic. Major Williams, founder of the non-profit organization, Fly Kicks For Kids, received a check for his philanthropic organization. Fly Kicks for Kids provides a community platform and support system for children ages 5-17 from low income areas while empowering future entrepreneurs. “I create these organizations and I do it to be of service (to the community.) So when someone else is actually trying to give back to you, it is always pretty great, and lends to the ability to pay it forward,” said Major upon receiving the check.

Pasadena has been the home of Harvest Rock Church since they moved to the Ambassador Auditorium for their place of worship. Ché & Sue Ahn, founding pastors of HRC and Harvest International Ministry, have dedicated themselves to serving their community. They realize that an immediate, full scale relief is necessary during these trying times and have been inspired by the word of God to implement the monetary donations immediately. The City Care Project will continue to help the community as long as relief is needed.

The auditorium is also the home to The Pasadena Symphony, which has also benefited from the project. The Pasadena Symphony, particularly overwhelmed by the crisis, has had to cancel concerts through at least the rest of the year, leaving their musicians unemployed since February. For them, it is uncertain when this struggle ends. “I have felt such a personal sense of unending gratitude to Pastor Ché, Bill Tilney and the foundation for allowing the Ambassador Auditorium to be our home,” says CEO Lora Unger, “We will certainly be putting this towards the musicians’ Health and Welfare fund that continue to seek donations for.”

Among the recipients were Salon De La Cruz, Lavender and Honey, Café Bambino’s, Crystal Nails, Millie’s Café, Famous Shish Kabob, Pasadena Baking Company, Go China Restaurant and Up Brand Creative alongside many others.

Harvest Rock Church is inviting people to join in the giving. Participants can send a one time gift or set up recurring donations. 100% of the funds will be designated to small businesses and individuals who lost their jobs.
