Chicago native and founder of Visionary Creative International LLC, J.D. Smith, has created an e-platform, Black Book library, to discover and promote black literature, culture, and history.
J.D is on a mission to push black literature and entrepreneurs back to the apex of global recognition. A few months ago, he and his brother, Brandon Henderson, launched a book titled “Made By Hustle” to inspire and create a guideline for Entrepreneurs within the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community to have a clear cut path to be successful.
The e-platform is set to solve a problem that has persisted for years—black literature’s marginalization. The publishing industry has long been criticized for hiring and retaining so few employees of color — according to a survey of the workforce released this year by the children’s book publisher Lee & Low Books, only 5 percent are Black.
Amazon suppliers and independent publishers have supply but need more customer flow, so black book library steps in to bridge that relationship, providing a pedestal for worldwide exposure for black authors, books, writings on various genres, and black culture.
Speaking about the platform, J.D. Smith said: “My company motto ‘Discover Who You Are’ says it all. For years I wanted to understand my history, learn where I come from, and be inspired to advance our culture. I wanted to know more about us from sources that you don’t have access to in a school system and from Black Authors and explorers.”
J.D. is also the publisher of the “In The Black exclusive newsletter,” where he shares information about free travel opportunities and successful investment picks in the stock market, real estate, and private equity.
J.D. Smith is a Tech Investor, Author, and Economist. He is the Founder of Visionary Creative International, a Tech-Based Consumer Solutions Company. He is also the Publisher for Black Media Daily, a 24/7 media outlet providing a voice for black content creators and a place to control their image throughout the Diaspora. J.D. is also the co-author of the book 100 Questions Black People Should Ask Themselves. As a digital nomad, he promotes the importance of black travel and working from anywhere.
