Austin Nash, a local North Carolina entrepreneur had an interesting take on how this past year has changed the way small businesses will operate forever.
Austin owns a website design and marketing agency in North Carolina that operates out of Greensboro.
Here’s what he had to say.
“The world is always changing, business is always evolving, the market never stands still. I’m only 21 so I haven’t witnessed it all first hand, but from my research, I’ve only come across a handful of times that things have changed this rapidly.
Whether we like it or not, our society, our world, is now a digital one. We are living through what I’ve heard many call the information revolution. We now live in a time where things are expected to be instant.
Everything is now one click away, everything is delivered. Food, entertainment, services, dating, self-improvement, knowledge.
This was not the case even 5 years ago, every month I see a new product or service being advertised that takes an existing industry and speeds up the delivery time, cuts out the middle man, gives people access online, etc.
After all of the events in 2020, this has been accelerated at an exponential rate. There’s a reason that storefronts and small businesses are closing. It’s because of these changes in the market. This is how it’s always been, the market changes, and the only ones who survive are the ones who adapt in time.
That’s why my business has been taking off over the past year, small businesses are realizing that if they don’t find a way to generate leads and revenue online they’re toast.
It’s not enough to have a storefront anymore, handing out flyers, tv commercials, radio, door to door, these things are being phased out through the evolution of our economy.
I’m not here to plug my services, but that’s why I’m in the online marketing and web design industry. I’ve been in this business for 8 years, I made my first website when I was 11. I got blessed with the desire to create things online, that combined with the past couple of years seeing where the market is going I decided to double down on it.
It really doesn’t matter what business you’re in or what you sell. The bottom line is, to survive, as business owners we have to figure out a way to generate leads and revenue online.
What if another lockdown comes? We’re out of business, we can no longer meet face to face, etc? That’s the last thing that I want to happen, I’ll always hope for the best, but I prepare for the worst just in case.
I watched too many restaurants and small businesses that I grew up loving, go out of business this past year. I don’t want to live in a world where everything we buy comes from 2 or 3 companies.
That’s one of the big reasons I run a marketing agency because marketing is the driving force needed to replace that revenue in brick and mortar businesses. The closer you are to the sale, the more you get paid, the more control you have over your business model.
So whether you decide to do business with us, someone else, or try to bootstrap it and do everything yourself, I encourage you as a small business owner to take action with your business’s online marketing whatever way you can. Social media, Google, and paid ads are the 3 biggest traffic tools that local businesses have today to increase revenue and bring leads to their website.
However, if you are interested in having us take care of your website or online marketing for you feel free to visit our website below.
