Mother May I is an upcoming TV show made for women, by women. It is the creation of a 21 year old London based filmmaker Jodie Jean Wood. To make the pilot of this upcoming TV show, Jodie has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, and she is welcoming generous support and backing.
The narrative of Mother May I surrounds the central character, Mary, who is on her journey to radical self-acceptance alongside her daughter Eves. The show is established within themes of femininity, desirability and ageing. The show explores the conflict women feel as they navigate within a society that condemns any sign of a woman accepting and honoring her true self.
Other characters, such as the Sisterhood of Strippers, who work at a strip club which Mary manages, remind the viewers of the importance of female solidarity by showing a sense of community and unity – creating a collaboration of strong and empowered women.
“With this show, I hope to empower those who identify as an outsider and I hope that with my work, I can make people feel seen and heard.” Said Jodie Jean Wood, while introducing this project to the Indiegogo community. “I have been writing the show for the past year and not only has it helped me appreciate things such as ageing, but it has also allowed me to establish deeper connections with many of the women in my life.” She added. Jodie was inspired to create this show after reading ‘Mary Magdalene Revealed’, and this show is her ode to women of the past, present and future.
The Indiegogo Campaign is located on the web at:
