Jianjia Robot, a Hangzhou-based high-tech company, recently benefited from the new fast pass offered by the China (Hangzhou) Intellectual Property Protection Center.
The fast pass expedites the approval of invention patents to within 45 days, local media outlets reported.
The company, which develops hard tissue surgery robot platforms, was applying for a patent for a device related to orthopedic surgery robots.
“It took us only 45 days to get the patent authorization, just in time for our new product debut early next year,” said Wang Juan, an engineer at the company.
Jianjia Robot was the first company in Hangzhou to have its patent successfully approved by the China (Hangzhou) Intellectual Property Protection Center, which was put into operation at the end of September.
“It used to take us at least one and a half years to handle patent authorizations. With the new IP protection center, we can now use the patent in our new products without worrying about any infringement,” Wang said.
The China (Hangzhou) Intellectual Property Protection Center handled 237 patent applications in the first month of its operation.
“The quick review system has greatly enhanced the efficiency of patent authorization, which can boost the technological innovation and research commercialization in related industries,” said an official from the center.
