Accelerators are very beneficial to startups in their early stages. Accelerators typically bring value to a firm by validating ideas, validating the market, or validating growth. Aside from that, some accelerators can add value through networks, mentoring, funding, and shared services like finance, SEO, marketing and human resources.

Subang Jaya – 07 February, 2022 – There are three types of startup accelerators in Malaysia such as government, private and corporate startup accelerators. Some of the government startup accelerators in Malaysia are Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP), MaGIC Startup Accelerator and MyNEF’s RAVE Accelerator. The Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) is a 4-month intense programme developed by the same team that gave you StartupQuest Selangor (SQSel). Lessons, rewards, coaching, abroad visits, and a chance to win RM100,000 are among them. 

Secondly, MaGIC Startup Accelerator is a programme that helps entrepreneurs launch their businesses. They mostly follow a classroom model. The majority of mentors are fellow company entrepreneurs. They want firms that have some type of early-stage momentum, particularly revenue traction. Lastly, MyNEF’s RAVE Accelerator is a subsidiary of MyNEF, and the accelerator is another government project. They offer a three-month programme in which winners get RM20,000 in exchange for a percentage of the company. 

Some of the private startup accelerators are NEXEA accelerator program, Khazanah Neo Accelerator and FinNext. The NEXEA Accelerator Program focuses on value creation. They provide actual coaching from accomplished businessmen and entrepreneurs who have launched and sold their own companies. The programme is a 6-month intense mentorship programme focused on bringing in significant traction development and has no application deadline. 

FinNext, the people behind Malaysia’s Fintech organisation, runs Cyber Lab Living Accelerator. In 5 months, you’ll have accumulated resources worth RM50k. Lastly, the Khazanah Neo Accelerator is a three-month initiative that awards RM20,000 to two selected teams.

For the Corporate Startups Accelerator in Malaysia, there are Sunway iLabs and Tunelabs startup accelerators. Sunway iLabs is a new Incubator and Accelerator in Bandar Sunway, Malaysia. In exchange for 8%, they provide a 24-week programme with RM50k, mentorship, access to Sunway Group businesses (12 verticals), and RM150k in Google Cloud credits. Tune Labs runs the Tunelabs Startup Accelerator. Tunelabs employees serve as the majority of the mentors.
