Ventairge, the UK company which focuses on decarbonising buildings efficiently and profitably, has successfully launched its low-carbon renewable heating, cooling and refrigeration system at the Dubai Expo 2020. The launch took place in the final month of the expo (March 2022) and involved a series of introductory lectures over with key guests.
The system variant: HCR-01, is a low-carbon renewable heating and cooling solution that utilises solar technology, combined with sustainably highly compact storage module. The solution provides cold thermal energy for cooling of buildings in the summer, and for refrigeration purposes (all year). It also provides hot thermal energy, which can be stored and delivered for building heating in the winter. The power is renewable, and the storage module is made from sustainable materials. The system also includes a control system utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that efficiently regulates the ambient temperature based on the occupancy and uses Machine Learning (ML) for forecasting and prediction demands.
The system was designed and developed with majority funding from Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation. The design goals focus on reducing emissions within buildings, which is aligned to the UK Government’s Ten Point Plan, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Ventairge UK Chief Operating Officer Amy Reid said: “Heat is the largest energy-consuming sector at over 40%, and the single largest contributor to UK emissions. Refrigeration takes up most of the electricity demanded for storage. Our system provides a route to achieving carbon neutrality and reduces the amount of power demanded from conventional sources. The launch of HCR-01 demonstrates our commitment to developing the system with current and future partners as part of our route to early commercialization, and to accelerate the path to Net-Zero.”
