The Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province, plans to help five extended reality companies go public, and incubate or attract 300 extended reality-related companies over the next five years, according to the incubator’s recently released plan.
Extended reality is a general term for augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality. It refers to scenarios where virtuality and reality both exist and people interact with computers.
According to the officials of the sci-tech city, the Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City now has over 70 extended reality-related companies, including BOE Yiyun Technology Co Ltd, Lingban Technology Co and Hangzhou Pimax Intelligent Technology Co Ltd.
The plan signals the sci-tech city’s ambition to lead the development of Zhejiang’s extended reality industry, said the administration of the sci-tech city. The administration added that they hope to build Yuhang district into a powerhouse for the country’s extended reality industry.
