RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – APRIL 15, 2022 – Full-service entertainment production company Subtle Insight Entertainment is bringing Hollywood-quality film and television production and artist management to California’s massive Inland Empire, a groundbreaking way for industry veteran and company founder Henry Jones III to open film industry access and high-quality production to underrepresented communities.
With more than 25 years in the entertainment industry, Jones knows what it takes to excel in Hollywood and has cultivated the relationships to prove it. From his beginnings as a songwriter leading him to artist management, Jones managed a girl’s group and a female vocalist, leading both clients to sign with independent labels while co-writing more than 75 percent of each group’s album. He broke into the film industry when Richard T. Jones, of ABC’s “The Rookie,” Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married” and “The Wood,” left his manager and was seeking temporary representation. Henry and Richard later partnered to produce the short film “Finding Neo,” written and directed by Teo, and collaborated together on various projects.
Jones’ Hollywood career exposed him to success and experiences that many in the Inland Empire — the region in Southern California east of L.A. County — can’t easily access, leading him to launch Subtle Insight Entertainment in 2021.
“As a black business owner, and as someone who has spent years in the business, I know how difficult it is to break through,” Jones said. “I don’t want others to struggle like I had to, so I am creating a space and opportunity for others who have the same aspirations but not the same access. I am striving to uplift my community through Subtle Insight Entertainment by providing high-quality area talent with local representation.”
The Inland Empire is home to more than 11 percent of California’s population and is one of the fastest-growing population areas in the country. But despite the enormity of the area, the center of the entertainment industry is in Los Angeles, where most auditions take place. Simply fighting traffic is just one of the barriers that aspiring actors, musicians, storytellers and film directors from the Inland Empire will face. It’s this barrier that Subtle Insight Entertainment seeks to dismantle.
“I want to give people a chance to be seen by someone who lives where they live. I want to tell compelling stories, work with exceptional talent, and make great films and have the satisfaction of saying we did it here, in a place not many people are familiar with,” Jones said.
Since launch, Subtle Insight Entertainment has produced KS Media’s short film, “Two Three,” written and directed by Kobina Wright and executive produced by Kevin Saunders and assisted with the production of Marsell Consulting’s virtual symposium, “The Black Man Made Well,” which centered on mental health. The company also manages artists, currently representing successful actor Jonathan Joss, whose credits include animated series “King of the Hill, Emmy Award-winning TV show “Parks and Recreation,” and the Oscar-nominated film “True Grit.” R&B/hip hop artist Shawn Tuck, who is currently working with James Benson of Phataztrax on his upcoming EP, is also on the Subtle Insight Entertainment artist roster. Jones is producing and directing Tuck’s upcoming music video, “My Vibe Song,” and managing Tuck’s growing career as collaboration requests from other artists continue to increase significantly.
