Latin American Growers Join Plants Without Borders to Help American Growers Fight Inflation

Latin American exporters of ornamental plants, Leal Plants and EXPORGANICA S.A., have both announced that they have joined the Nevada-based Plants Without Borders Cooperative.

“More than 75% of the expenses of American growers goes directly to Labor, Freight, and starter plants,” said Mark Javier, Founder of Plants Without Borders. “Our goal is to lower these three main expenses by providing a labor-efficient, technology-enabled supply chain solution for sourcing starter plants from around the world.”

“We usually have to go through brokers to access the US market,” said Miguel Arturo Gutierrez Echeverria, CEO of EXPORGANICA S.A. in Guatemala. “With Plants Without Borders, American growers now have direct access to our inventory at below market prices.”

“With the Plants Without Borders platform, I can provide post-sale support directly to American growers. This can help reduce the time it takes to develop and release a new product,” said Alexis Vladimir Parreño Velasquez, Owner of Leal Plants in Ecuador. “We are seeking to work with an American grower who is interested in helping us bring Ecuadorian aroids to big-box stores within the next 12 months.”

Exporters on the Platform have pledged to keep both their current and future availability updated weekly. This helps American growers prevent shortages and disruptions by giving them unprecedented visibility into global supply chains.

Through the Plants Without Borders Platform, American growers now have direct access to the inventories of growers in Guatemala, Ecuador, Indonesia, Thailand, and Mexico. Soon to be added to the Platform are growers from Costa Rica, Colombia, and the Philippines.
