Los Angeles, CA – Up and coming Los Angeles musician, Ali Angel is releasing her new self-titled EP, Ali Angel on June 17th. The 6-track EP has been slowly rolled out over the past few months giving fans glimpses into Ali’s talent and power as an artist. Two unheard tracks will be a part of the album and will complete the expansive record that is filled with soulful themes of introspective daydreams, budding relationships and getaways, vintage vocals, and feel-good sounds you need for the summer.
“With this project, my goal was to establish my dynamic and classic sound more than anything — my love for soulful Motown horn arrangements and strings, playful guitars and bass lines, and a dynamic vocal style. I think it really showcases my personality in a lot of ways — sweet, but spicy, honest, vulnerable, and fun. I think of it just as a taste of me, an appetizer or introduction into who I am as an artist, both sonically and thematically. It also showcases my ability to play with so many genres and styles. I really just want people to hear the project and be excited and on board for what’s to come.”
The first four tracks released from the EP quickly received wide recognition, had over 115 thousand combined streams, have included features from curators like Ditty TV and Relix Magazine, and one even became a Tik Tok trend. Being a self-titled EP, Angel focused on showing off her flexibility as a musician. This shows through effortlessly in each song, with clear influences from the 60s and 70s, Motown, and even folk. Each song evokes authentic feeling and imagery as she flirts with different genres, bouncing between summery, soulful-pop to then exploring darker, grittier sounds, stripping down to her most raw and vulnerable version yet.
“I think retro-soul music is taking up its own significant space in the music world right now. Artists who are merging those vintage classic sounds with their own modern twists and perspectives. That’s what I’m trying to do with this collection of songs. I wanted to tell stories where you could hear the influences.”
With so much success from her first tracks “Play Pretend,” “Middle Name”, “Loving You Lately,” “Extra Wild” and Extra Wild’s Official Music Video, listeners can expect Ali Angel’s upcoming EP to make big waves and quickly become your summer soundtrack.
