Have you ever had difficulties with finding inspiration for your photography? The problem isn’t a lack of great photography material. In fact, we are flooded with it. The problem is knowing whose photos you should be looking at and learning from. Looking for the best photographers out there! Look no further than Ramzi Mansour, a very influential Lebanese photographer. Want to know more about Ramzi! Follow up with the following interview.

1) Would you please introduce yourself for our readers?

My name is Ramzi Mansour; I am a Lebanese photographer. Actually, my father is Lebanese and my mother is Hungarian. I was born in Australia in 1973 and when the civil war broke out in Lebanon my family moved to Nigeria. I spent my formative years there until I was sixteen years old. After that I went to boarding school in the UK, then a year in Greece and then continued my university education in Canada. I graduated with a degree in political science and a specialization in international relations.

2) Would you please tell us about your previous career, before being a photographer?

After graduating from university, I moved back to Nigeria to work in the family business. In 2001 I decided to set up my own business in the power generation sector, which led me to many years of satisfying work in the business and investment field with my niche being in supporting global startup companies.

3) How did you delve in the world of photography?

In 2016 with the birth of our second child, my wife and I decided to relocate to South Africa, which is where she is from. There, I felt inspired to expand my vision and took up what was then just a hobby; photography. The Covid years gave me an opportunity to spend time on my craft and during the last three years specifically I have grown my capacity and experimented with my style. In this time I have had the honor of working with so many incredibly talented people and have become an ambassador for Leica, one of the most prestigious camera brands in the world. My wife and I also teamed up to work on a ‘passion’ project, publishing a book entitled Resilience that tells the stories of 42 women and their journeys with cancer. This work was exhibited in Dubai by Leica UAE under the patronage of Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi.
