Amazon Sponsors Diversity Panel At “ADCOLOR” Conference Featuring Founder of Black Girl Film School

Los Angeles, CA – Nov 15, 2022 – Jayda Imanlihen, founder of Black Girl Film School (BGFS), will headline a panel at the Amazon-sponsored Mainstage of the ADCOLOR Conference on Saturday, November 19, in Los Angeles.

Imanlihen will lead a session titled “The Future of Filmmaking with Black Girl Film School” and will share the mainstage with Latasha Gillespie, executive head of Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Amazon Studios, Amazon Prime Video, and IMDb, and with Mariama Diallo who directed the Regina Hall starrer “Master,” produced by Amazon Studios.

“We’re paving the way for an incredible rise in underrepresented voices. Our aim is to create a pipeline of success for Black women in the film industry. Black Girl Film School’s impact in shaping the future leaders in Hollywood will be something to watch out for,” said Imanlihen.

The talk will touch upon a unique collaboration between Amazon Studios and BGFS which resulted in the formation of a Directing Masterclass focused on the work of the aforementioned director, Diallo. The session will hone in on BGFS’s online film production and digital literacy programs, helping to reshape the way girls think about learning STEAM-related topics. It will also expound upon the impact of diverse perspectives and voices behind the camera, as well as what the future of film can look like.

The ADCOLOR Conference is presented by Amazon, Disney, Google / YouTube, and Meta. It is touted as the premier organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting professionals of color and diversity in the creative industries. The theme for this year’s conference, “Still Rising,” pertains to building on the momentum of the DE&I investments and the progress seen over the last two years, which has reshaped industries and affirmed the need for inclusion. It runs from November 17 to 20.
