An integrated service mini-program developed by the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 recently invited users to go on virtual tours of West Asia, local media outlets reported.
Eleven tours totaling 80 kilometers were embedded within a section in the program entitled “Running to 2022 to become an Asian Games Torchbearer”, which allows users to roam around cultural and sports landmarks in West Asia.
Runners can experience the cultural charm of Kabul, a millennium-old historical city, and witness the fusion of tradition and modernity in the mountain city of Amman. They can also explore the beautiful scenery of Kuwait or Beirut, the largest port city on the east coast of the Mediterranean.
The longest route in the West Asia Station is the Baghdad Ancient City, which is 11 km long and passes by Baghdad University, Zawra National Park, and the Iraq National Museum. Baghdad is the capital of Iraq and a historical and cultural city in the Islamic world, known as the hometown of One Thousand and One Nights.
Riyadh, the host city of the 2034 Asian Games as well as the capital and palace city of Saudi Arabia, will also be featured in an Oasis City Line stretching 8.2 km and passing by the Masmak Fortress, Saudi Arabia National Museum, King Abdullah Park, and Riyadh Zoo.
Those who complete all the virtual tours will have the opportunity to become a torchbearer at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
West Asia is the penultimate destination of the virtual tours.
Accessed through Alipay, a popular Chinese mobile payment app, the integrated service mini-program currently has millions of users from across the world, who can receive real-time information about the Games and its host and co-host cities, as well as book tickets and arrange their accommodations in Hangzhou.
