AMERICAN VISA FOR CITIZENS OF CHILE

Chilean nationals are fortunate because they can travel to the United States without a visa or with an ESTA obtained online. In order to improve security in the Visa Waiver Program, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was compelled to create an ESTA. This happened after the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)’s Section 217 was modified by the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Act of 2007. A visitor’s eligibility for the VWP can be verified by the DHS prior to their entry into the US using the advanced security instrument known as ESTA. The DHS can erase whatever threat the program may have posed to law enforcement or travel security thanks to ESTA. A visa is not an ESTA, no. In numerous ways, an ESTA differs from a visa. For instance, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) enables visitors to the United States without needing to apply for a conventional non-immigrant visitor visa. However, those who are going with legal visas do not need to file for an ESTA because their visa will be sufficient for their intended purpose. This means that an ESTA cannot lawfully be used as a visa for entry into the United States. Where US law requires one, travelers will need a visa.
