DURHAM, NC – Many people have a desire to be married, but the reality is that not everyone is ready to enter into a lifelong covenant with another person. There’s a process an individual must go through before they are ready to find and marry “The One.” Rushing into relationships and bringing baggage is all too common in modern dating, and it often causes people to lower their expectations or compromise their values. Tiffany and Imhotep Newsome (co-founders) of Covenant Conversations have made it their mission to assist singles on their journey to marriage—showing them that they don’t need to “settle” when searching for the partner God intends for them.
Before tying the knot in 2020, Tiffany and Imhotep had both suffered their fair share of romantic hardships. For years, Tiffany found herself attracted to unhealthy relationships—which included a five-year relationship that ended via text message—largely because she was in an unhealthy place herself. Similarly, “Tep” attracted dysfunctional partners for many years due to his own personal insecurities—culminating in an agonizing divorce. Only after acknowledging their mistakes, addressing personal pain and trauma, and submitting to God’s will for their lives, were they able to end their destructive patterns of dating and find their lifelong partners.
Today, as relationship coaches that employ a faith-based perspective, Tiff and Tep are eager to share their message with the world—that to find “The One,” a single person must first undergo the transformative process of preparing for Covenant. While there is no clear “blueprint” for dating, the Newsomes have prayerfully developed a model that helps Christian singles break the cycles of unhealthy relationships in order to prepare to attract their Covenant. The Newsomes call it The Covenant Academy.
Through The Covenant Academy, singles will receive all of the assistance they need on the often-difficult journey toward preparing for marriage. The Covenant Process covers four critical areas of attraction and preparation: self-acceptance and awareness, breaking patterns that lead to failed relationships, core relationship fundamentals, and shifting a mindset from single to “Covenant-ready”. Members will receive monthly training, personal assessments, live monthly Q&A sessions, and access to a rich community with like-minded individuals.
Furthering their mission, the Newsomes have also created several courses with exclusive content such as: “The Break-Up,” a 90-minute session designed to help singles move past old relationships. In addition, they created the “More Than Single” 14-day prayer journal which helps Christians maximize their singleness through biblically-based, daily devotions, and transformative prayers. Their course, the “Covenant Connection Guide,” addresses the question most Christian singles ask – “God, where is my Covenant?” through a two-part approach that includes the best God-honoring dating strategies.
