Commerce – Eight leading Thai film companies are set to join AFM 2023 with the support of the DITP, with forecasted revenue expected to exceed 500 million Baht.

The Thai film industry is a global showcase for the talent, innovation and vital energy of the nation. In recognition of this value, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Ministry of Commerce will support eight Thai companies to participate in the American Film Market 2023 in Santa Monica, United States between October 31, and November 5, 2023. The AFM is one of the largest film and content markets in the world, and the participation of Thai companies is forecast to generate at least 500 million baht in revenue.

Director-General Phusit Rattanakul Sereeruengrit of the DITP stated, “The Ministry of Commerce is set to support eight companies’ participation in the AFM in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, USA. The involvement is expected to result in substantial transactions, investments, international co-productions, and the creation of business networks, potentially generating revenue exceeding 500 million Baht. The initiative underscores the department’s commitment to advancing the film industry, which generates considerable direct and indirect income for Thailand. It also complements the government’s strategy to enhance Thailand’s competitive edge globally through soft power, with the film sector identified as one of eleven key industries.

“The United States is widely regarded as a pivotal center of the entertainment industry and has a significant global influence. The American Film Market or AFM is the largest film and content market in America. The event features a variety of activities such as distribution company booths, production and post-production outsourcing, co-investment, film screenings, national booths to promote film shooting locations, seminars, and networking events with film industry personnel. It will attract filmmakers, buyers, and experienced investors from all over the world.
