Street Churros (Solabel Co), the churro cafe, enters Houston, Texas USA

Street Churros (CEO Sang-woo So), a churros specialty cafe operated by Solabel Co., Ltd., is entering Texas following its expansion in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Last June, it was announced that the first and second Houston stores were opened in Bellaire and Blalock, Texas. Street Churros made a splash with ‘Ah-chu’, the world’s first ice cream and churros together, and is receiving a good response from local consumers as a K-Food brand. Their churros are made to order and are perfect with ice cream and coffee. Churro dogs(hot dogs made with churros) are also good as a meal replacement.

Street Churros is a churro cafe that started in 2014 in a 160 sqft. space on Gyeongnidan-gil, Itaewon, Korea. When churros were not popular in Korea, they started a store where you could have a made-to-order handmade churro, and it became popular through word of mouth. Due to its enormous popularity, they made expansions to Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States in 2016, China and Thailand in 2017, and Indonesia in 2018. In 2015, Street Churros opened on the main street in LA where the Hollywood Awards Ceremony was held and received a lot of love. In 2019, they were also selected as a ‘Case Analysis of A Successful Brand’ by Harvard Business School. Offline stores have been difficult due to COVID-19 globally, but Street Churros also regained vitality as the streets were revitalizing. Street Churros is currently operating about 100 stores at home and abroad. Preparations are in full swing to open in Japan and Australia by 2024.

In Spain, the home of churro, churros are eaten as a breakfast or after hangover. It’s delicious when dipped in chocolate. European-style churros are crispy, but hard and oily. Street Churros’ churros are little different from that. Once you taste Street Churros, you will never forget the crisp, moist, and chewy taste where the foundation of constant research and challenges they are making. The Korean word ‘gut-ba-sok-chok’ means ‘crispy on the outside and moist on the inside’ and is perfect word for the texture of Street Churros. To make healthy churros, they developed a mix that includes super grains such as oats, and their recipe was developed throughout to get the perfect churros. It was the result of the CEO’s belief in ‘making delicious food that is good for your health.’

The Street Churros official expressed his ambition, saying, “Starting with the opening of a road shop in Texas, we are preparing to open at a major league stadium next year. We want to expand stores throughout the United States and deliver healthy churros.”
