From 3 to 5 September 2024, Astana will host the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
We anticipate the participation of delegations from over 60 countries, led by digitalization and technology ministers. The conference aims to enhance digital collaboration to achieve the goals of inclusion and sustainable development.
ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations and serves as the inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region. The Commission promotes cooperation among its 53 member States and 9 associate members in pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges.
Kazakhstan is recognized by the UN as a leader in digital government solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. This event supports the national goal of attracting 500 billion tenge in investments by 2025 and increasing tech product exports by $1 billion by 2026.
The first two days of the conference will feature plenary discussions, side events, bilateral meetings between ministers, and the signing of various memorandums and agreements.
The final day, 5 September, will be designated as Kazakhstan Tech Solution Day. This day will highlight Kazakhstan’s tech companies, startups and cutting-edge digital innovations such as SmartBridge (service showcase), Smart Data Ukimet (smart data government), and eOtinish. Additionally, we will showcase the capabilities of Central Asia’s largest innovation center, the Astana Hub international technology park.
One focus of discussion at the conference will be the next steps for the establishment in Almaty of a Digital solutions centre for the sustainable development of Asian and Pacific countries. Additionally, the event will feature the launch of the Asia-Pacific Digital Transformation Report 2024.
