“Teddy is a natural on camera—the lens truly loves him,” says producer Susan Goforth. “In The Wilde Girls, he brings a grouchy, misanthropic mountain man to life in a way that’s both touching and moving. He anchors the film with such depth, and his performance is a joy to watch.”

Set during the Great Depression, The Wilde Girls follows the hilarious misadventures of Tinsley and Mattie Wilde, two spoiled, ill-behaved, completely clueless New York socialite heiresses. Used to a life of luxury, the girls lose their fortune after their father’s passing and end up stranded in the rugged wilderness of Washington State with a price on their heads. Completely unprepared for survival, their journey is both laugh-out-loud funny and a humbling lesson in what truly matters. Teddy Smith co-stars as the gruff mountain man who reluctantly becomes their only hope — and a surrogate father figure, anchoring the film with his unique, heartfelt humor.

Teddy Smith spoke about shooting in the wilderness, “We were shooting a scene. And I was standing in tall grass by a big log. And Timothy, the director said, ‘Teddy go stand by that log and tell the girls to follow you.’ So I walked all gruff like and said, ‘Come follow me. You know, all manly, the snake, there was a snake, a giant blue and black snake — came out of nowhere! And I screamed, ‘Ahhhh!’ I screamed just like that, ‘Ahhhhhhh!’ And the director was like, ‘Cut! Cut – Teddy, you’re a mountain man, and mountain men don’t scream like that at a snake’ and I said, ‘This one do!'”
