On September 5, 2016, BikeBuddy will launch a crowdfunding campaign to fund the production of their bicycle sidecar add-on. Designed to be fitted to mountain bikes and BMX’s, it functions as a people carrier and adaptable cargo bike.
Melbourne based engineer Harold Mondonedo came up with the concept of a bike sidecar based on tuktuks, pedicabs and rickshaws from his travels and personal experience. He later transformed his idea into a multifunctional, environmentally friendly attachment that can easily unfold and connect to the majority of popular bicycles.
BikeBuddy is made from high tensile black steel combined with industrial plastic and folds into a flat-pack. It has a carrying capacity up to 165 kg, the attachment measures 122 cm length, 83 cm width x 174 cm height (with canopy).
BikeBuddy will be launched on the popular crowdfunding site Indiegogo on September 5, 2016 for a 30 day campaign. The campaign is looking to raise $100,000 USD. Perks include a special price of $399 USD which reflects a 43% discount off the SRP and delivers in many countries. They also have a special price of $59 USD just for the backers to reserve now and pay later to lock-in the campaign price.
