Small-Town Life and History Featured in New Release

Enumclaw, WA – A compilation of newspaper columns centered around life in a small town highlights the perspective gained by remaining in one place for a lifetime. “Sharing life together in a small town is good,” says Carole Ledbetter, author of new release, Carole’s Columns (Redemption Press 2016).

The columns, originally published in The Times of Ottawa, IL from 2001 to 2016, were designed to inspire, influence, and entertain. Ledbetter served eight, six-month terms as a member of the Write Team, a group of local citizens invited to write columns for The Times on a bi-weekly basis, and frequently wrote guest columns for the paper.

Ledbetter says, “My book describes the adventure of growing up and growing older in the Midwestern town of Ottawa, IL. It’s about community and connectedness, and shared memories.” She includes interviews with local residents, seasonal emphases, and her perspective on faith, family, friendship, and community, as well as accounts ranging from her youth to becoming a grandmother who finds adventure in writing and speaking.

The speaker and author of Who Am I Now?: Growing Through Life’s Changing Seasons (Redemption Press) says, “I hope to provide fresh perspectives on faith, family, friendship, and community by sharing memories from the past and views on today’s world. By sharing my faith, I hope to influence readers to become followers of Jesus Christ, finding joy in the adventure of walking with the living God.”
