Calgary, Alberta, Canada – The International Association of HealthCare Professionals is pleased to welcome Raju Hajela, CD, MD, MPH, CMRO, CCSAM, CISAM, DFASAM, FCFP, DABAM, Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine Physician, to their prestigious organization with his upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. He is a highly-trained and qualified addiction medicine and family physician with a vast expertise inall facets of his work. Dr. Hajela has been practicing for over thirty-four years and is currently serving patients at Health Upwardly Mobile in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Centre is a counseling service centre consisting of an integrated team of health professionals providing personal services, primarily through individual and group psychotherapy, in the areas of addiction, mental health and chronic pain. HUM also has an Intensive Outpatient Program for addiction recovery and offers occupational health services which include independent medical evaluations, fitness to work assessments, biological testing, customized training, and wellness sessions.
Dr. Hajela earned his medical degree in 1982 at Dalhousie University and his master degree of public health in 1988 at Harvard School of Public Health. He trained at the University of Toronto, has undergraduate studies in physics, and completed training in Maharishi Ayurveda in 1994. Dr Hajela also served in the Canadian Forces from 1979 to 1995 and is now a retired Major. He is a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) and the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), as well as Fellow of CFPC and Distinguished Fellow of ASAM. He is a Certified Medical Review Officer (CMRO) and a past Civil Aviation Medical Examiner (CAME).
Dr. Hajela is board certified in addiction medicine with the American Board of Addiction Medicine (DABAM) and is also an active member of the Canadian Medical Association, the Canadian Public Health Association, the Ontario Medical Association, and the Alberta Medical Association. Dr. Hajela links his success to his commitment to his own personal health, especially practicing transcendental meditation. Earlier in his career, he held faculty appointments in Family Medicine and Psychiatry at Queen’s University and has taught medical students and residents at the University of Toronto, Queen’s and the University of Calgary. He has held leadership positions in the Ontario Medical Association in the past and the Alberta Medical Association currently. Dr. Hajela has practiced Transcendental Meditation (TM) since 1986 and provided Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs for physicians regarding the benefit of TM personally and for patients.
