Adora’s Closet LLC, founded by Julisa Brown, is a mobile women’s boutique with a personal touch and a mission deeply rooted in family. Named after her daughter, Adora, the boutique is Julisa’s way of creating generational wealth. Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, Julisa spent her formative years in San Antonio, TX, before returning home.
In addition to running her boutique, Julisa serves as a senior leasing manager for GSC, the largest apartment complex in Raleigh. With five years of experience there and a recent promotion, she brings a strong work ethic and organizational skills to her entrepreneurial venture. Her role as a professional, a mother, and a businesswoman has shaped her journey, inspiring her to show her daughter what it means to dream big and work hard.
What Makes Adora’s Closet Unique
Adora’s Closet is not just a boutique; it’s an experience. Operating out of a custom-fitted U-Haul truck, the boutique provides a stylish and intimate shopping environment. The innovative concept allows Julisa to take her boutique on the road, bringing unique women’s fashion directly to customers.
Initially, Julisa envisioned her clientele as younger women in smaller sizes. However, she discovered her core audience is largely made up of plus-sized, older women. This realization has led her to expand her inventory to include sizes from large to 3XL, ensuring that every woman feels welcome and celebrated.
Overcoming Challenges
Running a mobile boutique presents unique logistical challenges. From installing stairs and doors to adding a generator and air conditioning, setting up the truck required creative solutions. Looking ahead, Julisa plans to transition to a bus. A bus would offer built-in stairs, doors, and climate control, making the shopping experience safer and more convenient for customers while reducing ongoing expenses.
Future Growth and Expansion
Adora’s Closet LLC is only the beginning. Julisa dreams of turning her boutique into a franchise of mobile fashion buses, catering to different audiences. She also plans to launch a men’s clothing line, building on her past success selling men’s apparel through Facebook.
Her long-term vision includes establishing stronger relationships with local vendors, enhancing her marketing efforts, and building a dedicated team. While she currently manages everything herself, Julisa knows that collaborating with others and streamlining her branding will help her business grow exponentially.
