Earlier this year, Serge Energy launched it’s Renewable Biomass Energy Project in Finland, to meet the rising demand for renewable energy as a result of the EU Energy Directive that comes into effect in 2020.
The EU Energy Directive states that all EU member states MUST fulfill at least 20% of their total energy needs with renewable energy by 2020. It then goes on to say that this will rise to 32% by the year 2030. Naturally, this binding renewable energy target is increasing the demand for renewable energy such as Biomass Pellets.
Due to this, Sergio Ross Quinones, the founder and Director of Serge Energy, set up his latest investment opportunity and has said “This project will give all types of investor the opportunity to not only make a great investment return but to also use their investing power to make a difference in the fight against climate change”.
Serge Energy’s Renewable Biomass Energy Project allows investors to invest in the production of Renewable Energy Biomass Pellets that will provide vital heat and energy across the Nordic area. For an investment of €24,300, the investor will receive a biomass extraction contract for 1 Unit on Serge Energy’s Finnish renewable energy site. The investor will then receive returns at years 2, 4 and 5 with a total net return of €43,056 over the 5-year project timeline.
The biomass extracted from Serge Energy’s sites will include but will not be limited to sawdust from woodland management, low growing plant matter, branches from forest thinning, timber, tree stumps and ground debris. This biomass once chipped, is compressed under high pressure to make uniformed sized biomass pellets. These pellets will then be sold within the European Union to countries such as Germany and Denmark.
Mr Quinones said “Finland is the ideal location for this project as there is a huge amount of readily available biomass and there is already great infrastructure in place throughout Finland which will cut the costs for investors down drastically. He also went on to state that “The production of renewable energy in Finland is tax-free”.
