Helped by a toad who’s into chemistry, Dewi discovers a power-hungry baron secretly breeding mutant corn at his unfriendly castle. To thwart the genetically modified-corn baron’s sickening plan, he must use his wits and firepower in a series of catastrophe-skirting capers.
Reviews
“This story is clever enough for adults to appreciate, and funny enough for children to enjoy … the entire plot is so imaginative and creative that it takes you into a fantasy world—one you don’t want to leave … Maggie Lyons has struck gold with her plot … If you are looking for another book to read to your child, one that is memorable and won’t fall into the forgotten heap of books, then this is a definite winner. Teachers, I highly recommend you stock your classrooms with this book” (Amazon review by Iroger).
“This is a great little book that I shared with my niece. Dewi is a very smart Welsh dragon, a curious little sleuth with good upbringing, who finds himself out to solve a mystery. Dewi meets several interesting characters that really had us laughing. This book is well written and flows easily along. Ms. Lyons conjured a great tale that is marvelously creative … Most of all, thank you for a wonderful afternoon solving a mystery with my niece” (Amazon review by RFH).
Vin and the Dorky Duet: Magnetic compost heaps, man-eating bubble baths, and other disasters erupt when an inventive seventh-grader meets a challenge to win a David Beckham autographed soccer jersey if he can befriend an unsociable nerd and introduce his sister to the nerd’s hunky brother.

“What a wonderfully-written story! It’s up there with all the children’s funny favourites – Francesca Simon, Nick Sharratt and Jeremy Strong. This has some real laugh-out-loud moments.” (Amazon review by Helen Laycock).
“Jeff Kinney move over. Maggie Lyons is here with her hilarious kid’s novel about a boy trying to get his older sister in with the hunk of her class – only problem is, it’s through the hunk’s very dorky little brother Eyeball! Make sure the floor is clean because I guarantee you will be rolling around on the floor laughing your head off. If you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, you’ll love this book, I promise!” (Amazon review by unicorngirl).
About Maggie Lyons
Maggie Lyons was born in Wales and very properly brought up in England before gravitating to Virginia’s coast. She zigzagged her way through a motley slew of careers from (unofficial) British spy to academic editor. Writing and editing nonfiction for adults brought plenty of satisfaction but nothing like the magic she discovered writing for kids. Her children’s books Vin and the Dorky Duet (for ages 7 through 12) and Dewi and the Seeds of Doom (for ages 6 through 10) are available on order at most book stores including Amazon.
