AppyBuilder Goes Open Source – And Now Offers Its Services At No Cost

MARYLAND, USA – AppyBuilder, the drag-and-drop browser-based platform that allows anyone to build an Android mobile app, regardless of their coding proficiency, has taken two decisive steps towards expanding its operations, within the short span of a calendar week: it now not only offers its services for free, but it has also switched to being an open source platform.

AppyBuilder is, without question, one of the web’s leading app building platform: with a thriving, growing community of more than 1,000 users, AppyBuilder counts in excess of 15,000 members subscribed to either its free or paid services, building over 45,000 Android apps both free and paid, but not all of the apps have been published to Android app stores.

“We owe much of our success to the thousands of our active community members, who have contributed to the platform’s organic growth,” said Mr. Hossein Amerkashi, Founder of AppyBuilder. He continued, “The decision to go open source came naturally, as we responded to our community’s interested in exploring the options of building iOS apps. We are confident that, with the input of numerous, skilled open source contributors, as well as the financial support of private funding and independent investors, designing and building Android apps will now be quicker and easier than ever before – and accessible to all.”

An extension of MIT App Inventor – which, despite counting millions of users, is solely focused on students and educators, AppyBuilder has essentially democratized the app-building process, making it readily accessible to anyone wishing to develop an Android mobile app, either for individuals, personal and commercial purposes, but lacking the coding and designing skills to do so. AppyBuilder includes a design-editor which allows for designing the user-interface (UI). This editor includes over 100 widgets (components) that can you can basically drag and drop to design the app layout.

Next, you’ll use the blocks-editor to code the app behaviour / logic. It includes blocks for each component that was selected in the design-editor. For example there are blocks that are triggered when a Button is clicked or when a Sprite (Image) is moved on screen. Behind the scene, the blocks auto-generate the code!

The platform’s current, Android-focused app-building features facilitate the development of commercial apps, as, among other monetization components, it includes full-screen or banner ads, Admob Rewarded videos, Push Notifications, sensors, relational database storage, advanced components and many other components, too.

Registering and building Android apps on AppyBuilder is simple and fast, and can be done via Gmail, through this link. An explanatory YouTube video showcasing the platform’s capabilities, and user-friendliness, can be viewed by watching the youtube video below:
