Burleson, TX – Blue Family Fund Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization recently hosted a fundraiser to assist families of fallen officers. The Casino Night Fundraiser and Auction which took place Feb 27 was hosted at 809 Vickery in Fort Worth. The event attracted over 150 first responder supporters for an evening of gambling by Dallas Casino Events. The event was fully sponsored as Spirits were donated by Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Umbra Winery and Texas Whiskey Ranch and appetizers were by Corn Fed Catering. Stacey Magovern, Co-founder of Blue Family Fund expressed her thanks thus, “We want to thank all our sponsors and supporters especially Triangle DJ Contractors Roofing and Farmers Insurance Angela Lamb Agency.”
The fundraiser turned out successfully as the organization was able to raise $15K for families of first responders. As their mission is, Blue Family Fund provides wide-ranging support to assist the families of fallen officers or injured first responders. From empathetic ears to financial assistance for everyday needs and scholarships for dependents, Blue Family Funds strives to help in whatever ways it can. According to the Founders, ‘‘Once connected to a family, we confer with our Board of Directors to review each scenario to determine how best the family may be aided. We welcome families of any fallen officer to apply using our Blue Family Fund Application.’’
Michael and Stacey Magovern founded Blue Family Fund, Inc in 2017 as a way to pay it forward for the blessings they have received with their company, Point Blank Safety Services, a marketplace for off-duty work for police officers all over Texas. With the struggles of the families of police officers in mind, fallen or otherwise, the couple decided to take it upon themselves to care for state heroes that have no other options. To ensure that the organization functions without any personal interferences, the couple gives out everything that is donated.
“We do not take any salaries from Blue Family Fund; every penny goes to help families of first responders.” Stacey Magovern said. “In our short 3 years, we have been able to help eleven families and provided 3 scholarships. Speaking about the event, Stacey also commented, “It was such a fun night with amazing people, can’t wait to start planning for next year.”
