Orland, CA – September 26, 2024 – Briden Wilson Farm, a family-owned farm nestled in the heart of California’s Central Valley, is proud to announce its 20th anniversary of growing premium raw almonds. Over the past two decades, the farm has become renowned for its dedication to quality, sustainable farming practices, and rich family legacy.

Founded in 2003 by Tom and Rebecca Dafoe, Briden Wilson Farm has cultivated two signature almond varieties—Nonpareil and Carmel—on land growing almonds for more than 70 years. The Dafoe family takes immense pride in the farm’s heritage, using one of the original wells dug on the property for irrigation and maintaining the industry’s highest food safety and sustainability standards.

“We started Briden Wilson Farm with a dream of raising our family in the countryside, and it’s been an incredible journey,” said Rebecca Dafoe, co-founder and owner of Briden Wilson Farm. “Reaching this 20-year milestone is truly special. It’s a reflection of the hard work, passion, and love for the land that we’ve poured into every single almond we grow.”

Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

Briden Wilson Farm’s almond trees are planted on peach and plum rootstocks, which keeps them small and easy to manage. The farm follows Integrated Pest Management guidelines from the University of California and Best Management Practices from the Almond Board of California. These methods help protect the land and water while producing high-quality almonds that meet strict safety and environmental standards.

“The Nonpareil almond variety, in particular, has no equal,” Rebecca explained. “It’s our premium product, and we often reserve it for raw consumption because of its smooth, blonde skin and delicate, sweet flavor. The Carmel variety, on the other hand, has a nuttier, amaretto-like taste and is perfect for roasting and making almond butter.”

A Legacy of Family and Farming

Briden Wilson Farm’s success is rooted in its farming practices and deep connection to family and tradition. The Dafoe family raised their five children on the farm, instilling in them a strong work ethic and a love for agriculture. All the kids helped with the farm’s daily operations, learning everything from driving tractors to running weed whackers.

“It wasn’t always easy, but the hard work paid off,” Rebecca shared. “The farm became a place where our family grew together, and where we passed down important life lessons. It’s been a blessing to see our children take pride in the farm, just like their father did.”

In May 2022, tragedy struck when Tom Dafoe passed away in a sudden airplane accident. Rebecca, faced with the loss of her husband and business partner, made the difficult decision to continue running the farm, honoring Tom’s dream and keeping the legacy alive.

“Tom poured his heart and soul into this farm,” Rebecca said. “After his passing, I knew I had to keep it going—not just for him, but for our children and grandchildren. Briden Wilson Farm is more than just a place that grows almonds. It’s a piece of our family’s history, and I’m determined to keep it that way for generations to come.”

Looking Toward the Future

As Briden Wilson Farm celebrates its 20th anniversary, Rebecca and her family are excited for what the future holds. With a commitment to growing the finest almonds and maintaining sustainable practices, Briden Wilson Farm is well-positioned to thrive for another 20 years and beyond.

“We’ve come a long way since we first started, but we’re not done yet,” said Rebecca. “Our mission remains the same: to grow the best raw almonds and do it in a way that respects the land, our family’s legacy, and our customers. We’re looking forward to many more years of farming, family, and fantastic almonds.”
