CityFam is organizing a party for cops and the community

Community members get to hug police officers (Yes, you read that right…HUG. A. COP.) to raise money for charitable organizations.

Today, CityFam, a Baltimore based social community is announcing the ‘Unity in the Community Project’ designed to help bring together the officers of the Baltimore City Police Department and the local community. The event will involve music, activities, fun and games for all ages. All activities are free and will include: food, moon bounces, face painting, and haircuts. The program will also involve raising funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs and Signal 13 Foundation. For every “ethnically diverse hug” (a hug between a community member and a police officer of a different race) CityFam’s sponsor, Freedom Fighters Bail Bonds will donate $1 for every second the hug is held, up to 5 seconds ($5). Members of the community are expected to take part in this event by participating in the activities and/or signing up on the CityFam website www.cityfam.com to volunteer.

The event will be taking place at the Carroll Park picnic area, 2100 Washington Blvd, Baltimore MD, on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016, between 12 – 3pm. While talking about the event, Freedom Fighters owner Danny Diamond said, “This is an event promoting unity, peace, and breaking down racial barriers between police and citizens. We are trying to make an impact on our city and inspire people and we need everyone’s help to do it.”

CityFam believes that there is no better way to promote peace, unite people and bring harmony than to connect people. The grassroots event will also be used to raise funds for Boys and Girls Clubs of Baltimore City and Signal 13 Foundation, which is a charity organization that provides financial support for BCPD personnel in time of emergencies.

While talking about the charity work that CityFam does, founder Rob Kowalski said, “we believe in the power of service to not only change a community, but change the individual doing the serving; that’s why we are inviting everyone to participate.” Mr. Kowalski went on to say of the event, “The police in this city have been through a rough couple years and we want to show them that we appreciate their efforts trying to keep our communities safe.”
