This year, Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade received over 487 nominations for the leadership categories of the 2021 Global Women in Leadership Awards. The independent GLA Jury generously volunteered a significant portion of their time to review every nomination and select hundred and eight finalists. Following the finalist selection, the Jury convened for a full-day interview process where each finalist was present or called in from abroad for a 20-30-minute online interview.
In a marketplace defined by complexity, disruption and change, today’s most successful enterprises are those that bring diverse perspectives and experiences to each new challenge. Along with being the right thing to do, diversity and inclusion offer a strategic advantage – especially at the leadership level.
That is why it is critically important for businesses to look at the challenges women often face, and clear the path for talented and dynamic leaders to rise to the top.
This understanding – together with our own commitment to fostering a culture at Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade (GCPIT) & Confederation od Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (CIMSME) that is both diverse and inclusive – inspired us to commission this study on women and leadership. At GCPIT & CIMSME, we have long believed that creating and promotion of a work environment where women can thrive, and implementing initiatives that support, advance, retain and reward them, is not only the right thing to do, it is a smart and strategic business approach.
The Global Women in Leadership Awards is an outcome of comprehensive survey of more than 500 professionals and entrepreneurs, exploring the qualities and experiences that contribute to women’s leadership and advancement in the workplace.
On 8th March Monday, the winners were finally announced at the 2021 Women in Leadership Awards Ceremony. We were saddened that some of this year’s winners were not able to participate in order to receive the award virtually. However, more than ever, we felt like a community of friends and like-minded individuals, and the awards were accepted on each winner’s behalf.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest of the day, Ms. Pumela Salela, UK Country Head : Brand South Africa, and Special Guest Ms. Danela Arsovska, President of Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Czechia.
The initiative was well executed by Ms. Aparna G. Kumar, Global Chairperson, wCombinator, GCPIT and supported by Mr. Job Thomas and and Ms. Anju Bajaj, Chairperson, CIMSME. The mission was sphere headed by Mr. Santosh G., Founder Global Chairperson, GCPIT.
Our warmest congratulations to all the winners, whose successes we celebrated!
