Corb Lund Stars On The Big Screen In Guitar Lessons - The Movie
Guitar Lessons opens in five select cinemas in Western Canada, September 30th, expanding from PEI to Vancouver Island in October. The film is distributed by moovi.com and Extra Butter Pictures.
“Corb is a consummate professional. We’ve known each other for years; his love and interest in the arts goes beyond music. I knew he’d studied acting in NYC and had small roles in other projects I’ve done. I wrote the part of Ray for myself to play – then realized Corb would be the better choice – and he was. Corb brought a strength and vulnerability to the role that we would be hard to match.”

Canadian country music artist, Corb Lund is not only back on tour – he is also making is debut on the silver screen this fall.  The chart-topping recording artist of such classics as, Five Dollar Bill, Truck Got Stuck, and Time to Switch to Whiskey, took a break from the Hurtin’ Albertans last summer to play Ray Mitchell, a cantankerous oilfield contractor in the feature film, Guitar Lessons.

Guitar Lessons is the story of a 15-year-old Metis boy named Leland (KADEN NOSKIYE) who inherits an old guitar from a father he never knew.  Determined to learn to play, Leland starts bothering a local contractor, Ray (CORB LUND), who is reputed to have been something of a rock star back in the day, to give him lessons.  After repeated refusals and brush-offs, Ray starts to see something of himself in the lost boy and his broken guitar.  After eight stitches and a fight with the banker (Roseanne Supernault), guitar lessons finally commence; and the two orphans, one 15 and one 50, learn to grow up together over their Guitar Lessons.

Guitar Lessons is written and directed by award-winning Canadian director, Aaron James (Hank Williams First Nation, Campus Radio).

When asked what it was like directing Corb Lund, Aaron James replies:
