“Cosmic Swan” by Bill Copeland is a hard-hitting piece of science fiction, taking the reader along a journey that is not only scientific but also cosmic and spiritual. A riveting tale of action and bravery, “Cosmic Swan” deserves to be on the reading list of all sci-fi fans this holiday season.
The story begins with USGS geologist Mark stroking his beard and wondering why his wife ran off to India with her charlatan guru. The events unfold in the future not too distant when Earth is facing its doom with a series of earthquakes, whose epicenter is surprisingly the holy mountain of Mt. Kailas in Tibet. Adding to the doomsday scenario is a blue comet on a collision course with Earth. Mark must fly all the way to the Himalayas to find the mysterious clues and their answers. On the way, he is joined in by Kusoom, a mysterious priestess whom Mark follows to a cavern. Kusoom is the leader of a mysterious religious cult, where the great being, the Cosmic Swan, is revealed to Mark.
A good blend of thriller and fantasy, “Cosmic Swan” is brimming with details, and the cast is varied and dynamic. There are plenty of twists and turns too, and fans who like natural disaster stories will find this a gripping tale.
