Dallas, TX – The CrossFit Games South Regionals took place May 13-15 in Dallas, TX, crowning Team Density from the CrossFit OverTake gym as the victor. With 758 overall points, Team Density came in at 26 points higher than the runner-up, Rockwell CrossFit. TEN Insititute and Pocket WOD are prouds sponsors of these competitors.
The team consisted of a co-ed group encompassing four men and four women. The men’s team included Ashton Jones, Blake Aulds, Bradly Espinosa and Marco Coppola. The women who competed were Alexis Burgan, Dalin Kennard, Lindsay Schutzler and Nicole Capurso.

To take home the championship, the team competed in a series of nine events, some for the men, some for the women, and some co-ed. Events 1, 2 and 3 took place on Friday, May 13. Event 1 involved strict handstand push-ups, synchro bar muscle-ups, rowing, biking and power cleans. Events 2 and 3 featured 5-5-5, 4-4-4, 3-3-3, 2-2-2 and 1-1-1 snatches, with the men competing in Event 2 and the women in Event 3.
Saturday, May 14 encompassed Events 4, 5 and 6. Events 4 and 5 consisted of a 1,800-meter run, overhead squats with pull-up hang and GHD sit-ups with deadlift hold. Event 4 was for the women while Event 5 was for the men. In Event 6, competitors competed in male-female pairs while they engaged in a series of partner deadlifts and synchro burpees.
On Sunday, May 15, the competition wrapped up with Events 7, 8 and 9. In Events 7 and 8, participants completed power snatches, synchro toes-to-bars and 50-foot handstand walks. These were team events, with male-male-female team competing in Event 7 and a female-female-male team competing in Event 8. In the final event, each athlete competed individually, completing thrusters and either rope climbs or legless rope climbs.
In addition to the South Regionals, competitions for the California and Pacific regions also took place the same weekend. May 20-22 will include tournaments for the West and Atlantic regions, and the Central, Meridian and East regions will compete May 27-29.
The CrossFit Games will occur July 19-24 and will feature winning regional teams from across the country. This annual competition has been running since 2007 and takes physical fitness away from being a personal endeavor and turns it into an exciting competition for both participants and viewers.
