Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai, Chairperson of PPPM WPKL, Appoints Committee Members at PPPM General Meeting

Founder and CEO of MONSPACE Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai, recently appointed as Chairperson of the Association for Consumer Protection Malaysia (PPPM) WPKL branch and Director of PPPM’s Womens Bureau, has appointed 18 members to the committee of PPPM WPKL on 3 November 2017 at a general meeting held at Palace of the Golden Horses.

Founded in 2009, PPPM is a non-government organisation open to all Malaysians above the age of 18. Its purpose is to protect Malaysian consumers, listen to their complaints, assist the government in monitoring the markets, and act as the bridge between consumers and the government. It has branches across Malaysia, in Perak, Johor, Selangor, and Pahang.

“Being trustworthy is one of the basic expectations consumer have of corporations. In a market where competition is stiff, most businesses are able to maintain their integrity for fear of losing customers. Nevertheless there will always be those who seek to mislead or cheat consumers for quick profit. That’s why we need a strong team to help preserve the rights of all consumers,” said Lai.

Notable names among the committee members appointed include Princess of Perak Raja Yong Sofia Bt. Sultan Azlan Shah, who is active in her advocacy for public interests such as healthcare and access of education for the needy, making her a good fit as head of the PPPM WPKL Education Bureau. Dato Sri Ang Lai Hee, who has served as persident of the Malaysia Chinese Traders Association, is also aptly appointed as head of the Chinese Society Bureau.
