“I wrote Animals All Around: An Alphabet and A Note for Parents with my Kindergarten students in mind. I designed around twenty-six interesting, familiar, and unfamiliar animals.
The first part of the book is for children. It allows them to learn and identify Uppercase and Lowercase letters. During the process, the child also learned about twenty-six animals, their habitat, eating habits, and lifestyles. In addition, it is a resource for parents and teachers.
I wrote the second part of the book for parents. It reiterates that educators and researchers have agreed that Alphabet knowledge is one of the strongest predictors of reading success during Kindergarten and into the First Grade. It reminds parents how significant their involvement is in their children’s education. They should include the Alphabet when choosing materials for their young children to use at home.”

About the Author:
Delores Henriques began her teaching career in Jamaica at age 21. When she migrated to the United States, she continued the same path. She received a Bachelors’ Degree in Education from the University of the West Indies, a Masters’ in Education from the American InterContinental University, and her Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Early Childhood Education from North Central University.
Her philosophy is “every child can learn” has given her the firm conviction to support the individual needs of every child every day. The knowledge that children learn in different ways and implementing effective strategies and creative ways in her classroom has helped her students grow and succeed in learning and development.
She is also the author of two other books: Bridging the Gap-Parents’ Guide for Struggling Learners in Elementary Schools and I Love the Trees.
