New Hygienist at Downtown Dental
Downtown Dental is proud to announce that a new hygienist has recently joined our team. Hygienists not only clean your teeth, they also do a host of other procedures in order to ensure your oral health is the best it can be. Even before you arrive, they will have reviewed your medical history and past dental notes as there are many medical conditions and medications that may influence dental hygiene treatment. Once you are in their chair, they will examine your head and neck for abnormalities, examine your tongue, gums, teeth and all other areas of your mouth, measure the attachment of the gums to your teeth (probing), take prescribed radiographs (x-rays), usually once per year, and have the dentist interpret them for dental hygiene and restorative purposes, and of course scale your teeth using hand or mechanical instruments removing hard and soft deposits (plaque and tarter), polish your teeth, if needed, to remove stains, and if needed, apply fluoride to strengthen teeth, apply agents to desensitize teeth, and apply pit and fissure sealants to seal grooves for decay prevention.

Most crucial of all, theyprovide education about every phase of the appointment so you can continue your good efforts at home. They will also customize an oral care program for you. You will be informed on, and given advice about matters related to your oral health including nutrition, smoking cessation and plaque control and the use of various oral care products, their purpose and effective use. They will recommend how often you should be seen throughout a year based on the health of your tissues and your adherence to a maintenance program.
Kid’s oral health
Downtown Dental Centre, located at 2010 11th Avenue in Regina, is now accepting new patients. Downtown Dental provides dental care to patients of all ages. We recommend a first visit around age 2 unless parents are seeing anything of concern. Hygienists work with children to teach them how to brush teeth properly, how to floss, how much toothpaste to use, and the best way to prevent cavities. Hygienists and dentists work together, along with the parents and child, to help promote good eating habits.

Downtown Dental is located on the fifth floor of the Royal Bank Building, at 2010 11th Ave. and is open from 7:30am to 4:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday from 7:30 am to 3:30pm, Thursday from 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm. We hope to see you, and your teeth, soon!
