Mexico’s award-winning group of luxury properties, El Cid Resorts and El Cid Vacations Club, have recently lent a helping hand by offering free rooms at all of their properties in Mazatlán to International Cruise & Excursions (ICE) employees based in Mexico City who have been affected by the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country’s capital last month.

Founded in 1997, International Cruise & Excursions (ICE) has provided innovative vacation products and services by maintaining strong relationships and partnerships with leaders in the industry. Although based in Scottsdale, Arizona, ICE has offices throughout the world, including Mexico City. In 2015, ICE increased their reach in Mexico City and expanded operations there by moving into the Torre Mexicana; one of the city’s most recognized landmarks. Because of the earthquake, ICE’s Cruise, Resort, Hotel, Air/Car Travel, and Customer Service inbound and outbound servicing teams were disrupted and Mexico’s call volume shifted to ICE’s other offices.

“We are very fortunate that ICE’s Mexico City employees were able to make it out of our building safely, and that the building itself sustained minimal damage during the initial earthquake, thanks to the building’s structure having proper reinforcement.  In spite of that however, the building is not yet safe for our employees to return to work, and power and communication remains out or minimal at best while the city works to restore some normalcy amongst the devastation.  ICE does have resources on the ground actively working with inspection officials to assess the situation and determine best-estimates as to when this office will be able to safely resume its operations.” Stated Stacey Wedgeworth, who is the Vice President, Account Operations & Implementation for ICE.
